Eleven Deacons are part of the dynamic leadership team that operates alongside Amanda (Senior Minister) in shaping the spiritual growth and hands-on running of the church. The Deacons meet regularly to bring the needs of the Church to God in prayer and to encourage each other. They take an active part in the Sunday services whether leading, giving talks, serving communion or acting as Duty Deacon to deal with the unexpected! In addition, deacons head up ministry squads that cover all aspects of church life.

Alex Biggs

I am the Finance Trustee for the church, working with a team of dedicated volunteers that make up the Finance Team.  Together we manage all aspects of the church finances and giving to Enfield Baptist Church.

Michelle Briers

I’m part of the Community Squad responsible for looking outside our church community to see how we can help serve our local community.  I alongside Kate have responsibility for running our winter night shelter along with other Enfield churches and local charity All People All Places.  We are also looking into other ways that we, as a church community, can support the homeless.

Martin Cody

I am in charge of PA and IT along with Dennis Muriu.  My main role is sorting out the PA rota and replacing any broken equipment.  I also update any technological equipment when necessary.

Peter Desmond

I am involved with leading worship as well as being part of the Community Squad.  My role is a trustee for ECDC (Enfield Churches Debt Centre).

Caroline Hinch

With Liz Marnham, I am a member of the Admin Squad and act as officer for the Deacons' meetings.  I am also involved in HR activities for the church, particularly in the area of staff recruitment and organisation structure.

Freddie Hunter

My particular role is to organise and manage the Prayer Text Service and support prayer initiatives as organised by Amanda.  Anyone who feels the need for prayer can text the number and a group of people are there ready to pray confidentially for you.

Tim McBryan

I am responsible for developing worship with the Disciple Youth Band which play on the last Sunday of the month.  I am also preaching and involved with leading worship.

Liz Marnham

I'm the Administration Trustee, I manage the duty deacon rota, liaise with the keeper of the membership roll and the church directory. I also dip into governance (e.g. managing elections) and HR.

Dennis Muriu

I am part of the Technology Squad alongside Martin Cody.  We are responsible for looking after and maintaining the sound system and the screen projection system used in the church.  We are also tasked into looking at ways to improve existing equipment and technology used in the church building.

Kate Solomon

I represent Enfield Baptist Church in oversight of the Enfield Family Contact Centre held here on Saturday afternoons.  Along with Michelle Briers, I organise and run the Winter Night Respite outreach from January to April each year in cooperation with the All People All Places (APAP) Charity.

Lesley Spiers

I am responsible for arranging who will lead the congregational prayers on a Sunday morning.  I am also  'deacon with responsibility for housegroups'.  We have over a dozen groups meeting most weeks, and I liaise with them re new members.  I also keep in touch with the leaders to see how their group is doing, and whether they need any support from me.

Planning your Visit

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

Our Sunday Services start at 10.30am, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to allow time to meet our welcome team and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you will be given a welcome leaflet which gives a brief outline of Enfield Baptist Church, along with a “stay in touch” card, we would encourage you to complete this and hand it back to one of the team.
