Challenge

Mary and Joseph travelled all the way to Bethlehem from Judea.....by foot....with a donkey.....and Mary was pregnant!  So your challenge today, is to not use your car, or get off the bus a couple of steps early, or use the stairs rather than the lift.  And while you do, take time to think of the long journey that Mary and Joseph made, all so that our Saviour Jesus Christ. could be born, as prophesied, in stable, in Bethlehem.

A journey to Bethlehem

Picture3 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

 Send a message

Advent 2 DecGod sent Mary an important message by sending an angel.  Why not send a card to someone you haven’t seen for a while or someone who is in need at the moment, maybe they are feeling lonely.  A card to let them know you are thinking of them will cheer them up.

ANGEL APPEARS TO MARY

The angel said to her, “Don’t be afraid, Mary; God has shown you his grace.  Listen! You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.

Start of Advent

Advent 3 Dec

The word “advent” means “coming”.  It is a time in church for us to prepare for Christmas and to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.  Every Sunday we will light a candle from the advent wreath, each one has a special meaning.

Today the first purple candle will be lit,  It is known as the Prophets Candle and symbolises expectation and hope.
